The main aim of research is to study the impact of Bakelite on various properties of bitumen binder. It has a three dimensional structure and is polymer amorphous in nature. It provides strength, hardness and rigidity. This paper gives overview on the use Bakelite in roads. Previous studies show that Bakelite can improve some properties of modified bitumen mix.
Bitumen is black material that is consumed from 4000 years B.C. Its previous Latin name was PIXTU-MEN and these days bitumen and Asphalt is used as its name. Its main usage is in roads and streets, asphalt and insulation. One in all the kinds of bitumen that is employed additional is refined bitumen made in refineries.
Most commonly, bitumen is used as a binder, although nowadays, a series of bio-based binders are also under development with the aim of minimising the environmental impact of the roads. An average asphalt pavement consists of the road structure above the formation level which includes unbound and bituminous-bound materials.
what is natural bitumen. Natural bitumen, produced from bituminous rocks and it is a change after more than millions of years of natural mineral precipitation, under pressure and geological changes in the form of mining Having broken from the fine granular powder, light brown, where the asphalt content of about 80% to 85%, the rest are kind of limestone minerals.

Cutback Bituman is made by reducing the viscosity of and ordinary bitumen by adding mostly petroleum type solvent. Cutback Bitumen are used because their viscosity is lower than that of neat asphalt and can thus be used in low temperature applications. After a cutback is applied the solvent evaporates away and only the Bitumen is left.

Gilsonite in Road Asphalt. Gilsonite in road asphalt. Gilsonite (Natural bitumen) are natural occurring hydrocarbon substances characterized by a high softening point (above 110 ° C) in the class known as asphaltite. They are mined much like other minerals and sold essentially in their native state.
The beginning of the modern bitumen industry can be attributed to (the year ) 1712 A.D.In which natural bitumen rocks were discovered in France. In that time, they were simply distributing the bituminous materials as clods on the surface of local roads and letting …
What is Natural Asphalt? The first thing that involves mind once you hear asphalt is roads. However, the versatility of asphalt makes it the ideal material for different applications and locations: from driveways to runways, from the barn floor to the ocean floor.
An asphalt driveway or road installed by an experienced asphalt contractor will usually last about 15 - 20 years, that estimated lifespan will lengthen if you perform regular preventative maintenance to your surface. Asphalt is Good for Noise Reduction. Asphalt pavement is the "quiet" pavement option.

Bitumen is the heaviest material obtained from the fractional distillation process of crude oil. It is Black or Brown in color and possess water proofing &adhesive properties. This material is further treated and blended to make different grades of paving grade bitumen. I.e. Bitumen VG-10, VG-30 and VG-40 and meets IS 73-2006 specification.
Bitumen obtained as a petroleum refinery by-product used for construction of flexible pavement is on the verge of extinction, since natural oil petroleum is a non-renewable resource.
Oct 01, 2020· A valuable advantage of flexible pavement can be opened for traffic within 24 hrs after the completion of the road. Also, the maintenance and repair of flexible pavement are cost-effective and easy. Today 96% of all streets and paved roads in Pakistan are surfaced with asphalt.
